Your Mom Goes to College

So yesterday after church we went out to eat at the Food Court with my brother John and his wife Nora. John goes to LSC and I've been talking about going there for a long time. We discussed how I want to go to Lake Superior College for Post-secondary and how I really need to get on the ball. I've really been ignoring what I have to do right now to get into LSC, thinking that I have plenty of time before the Fall Semester. Well John got on me at lunch but not in a mean way. So it seems that was what it took to get me on the ball, so to speak. That night when I got home I got on the net to see what I needed to do. Well there is more to do and I'm still slightly nervous about the entrance exam, but thanks John for getting me going.

John is a Mover, when he sees some thing that needs doing, he does it. At least that was the impression I got on Sunday. We were also talking about me volunteering at Lake Beauty Bible Camp this coming summer. John explained that I would have to go to Surf Camp first before volunteering. Surf Camp is a camp all about learning to be a servant by doing behind the scenes stuff and helping the counselors. By the way he spoke about the camp it sounds like a fun time and an experience I would like to have. Even after this camp I would hopefully volunteer a week or two later in the summer. So after this whole conversation when we (Mom, Nora and I) had kinda moved on, John pulled out his cell phone and called up Lelend at LBBC and asked him to send me a Surf Camp application. Gave him my address and everything, I was impressed and spurred on all in the same moment.

After being homeschooled, going to the same church, and knowing all the same people for so many years, it gets a little repetitious. Not that I don't love all these people and things to death, because I do, its just that I feel like I need more experiences in high school. It might be even cooler if I could convince one of my friends to do this with me...Hint hint. Sadly Tim doesn't sound that interested, not that I thought he would be.

Another sort of cool thing about going to LBBC is simply my last name. There has been an Eastvold as a camper or a worker at Lake Beauty every summer for the last sixteen years. My brother, his wife and five of my cousins have worked there, not to mention all of the other family that has gone to Lake Beauty Bible Camp for family camp. I think that is so cool, kind of like a family legacy.

Here you have my mass amusement!!

YOUR MOM GOES TO COLLEGE!

Hey Hey Hey!

You had better do it next year, so that we can hit at least 18. Then, we need to figure out the next 7, so that we can say that we have been helping out for a quarter of a century.

Chau!

Thanks for the complements sis. I hope that I didn't press the issue too much, I was only trying to encourage you. I feel very strongly about you getting into school early. It may be scary now as it would be a new frontier for you, but I'm willing to bet you will be very thankful down the road. I know that camp would be a huge blessing on your life. It's an amazing place and had a huge impact on my life and it may on your's as well. If there is anything that I can do to help you move closer to either of these goals, please let me know. I would love to be involved. That goes for you too Vermin. I've gained a little bit of experience under my belt in many, many different things since I left Hunter Lake and I would love to share it with you and help you in your path selections if you would like. I hope that this is appealing to you. I recall Mom and Dad making similar offers to me when I was coming of age and I didn't heed their advice as much as I should have. It may have been the generation gap or maybe just my own stubborness, but maybe the fact that we are closer in age will make you more comfortable with the idea. Anyways, I've babbled on for a bit now and I'll give your eyes a rest for the time being. I'll keep an eye on these blogs now that I have the addresses but also feel free to email or call. With my love - Blindman
